Beautiful quilt. What a piece of history you have in those treasured quilts too.

a few years ago I made a "Japanese Lantern" which I copied from a quilt my grandmother made and I am lucky enough to own. It was so much fun and I felt like I was sewing with her. I was almost sad when it was finished. I will forever miss her and think of her every day.

What a wonderful quilt! I love the story behind it too.
Hand quilting does provide time for reflecting and daydreaming. So nice.......

I would enjoy seeing your quilt. I know what you mean about feeling sad now that it's done. Sadly I never met this grandmother but I certainly feel connected with her after this project.

The label is in the works so to speak, I haven't quite decided how I want to do it. I made one for the original quilt that has a pocket to contain the ribbon she won way back in 1932. I'm leaning towards incorporating that in mine. Like I said, not quite decided yet.
