This was my first effort at applique'. I think it'll be fun to do once I work through some of the kinks in joining pieces.

Each person in the guild who took the background fabric and a pattern is doing one block. I may make a couple more just to practice a little more. We turn the blocks in at the next meeting and then one of the ladies has volunteered to put them together. I expect it will be a pretty eclectic mix when it's finished. They will auction it at an art festival here in April. The festival's focus is Texas or western art. I'm anxious to see some of the other blocks myself. I'm new to the guild so don't really know if they are traditional or what.

That is so cute, I love the way you've fussy cut your red fabric to get the motifs in there. Well done on your first attempt at applique

Thanks everyone. Ceegee, in all honesty, the first one I did stunk. I had to take it apart and try again. It was just the boost I needed to go ahead and buy a little better machine. I got one that would do a blanket stitch, and that was just the ticket. Saw the other blocks, what a mix. But they were all really cute! I can't wait to see the finished quilt. I may try to make one for my dad...he's a kicker. I think he'd like it. He's 82 and tends to stay cold all the time. But I have several other projects to do first.

My guild's block of the month are a selection of all types of shoes. One of them is a boot. I am going to be brave and machine zig zag around it.
    You have really inspired me.
    Thanks again
    CEEGee
