Arabian Nights - a Work in Progress

    Hi all.

Today, instead of finishing any of my other projects, I well and truly crossed over into the 'Dark Side' and admitted that there is a strong probability of terming myself as a 'quilter'.
I've been avoiding that term, as I need to focus on another craft like another hole in the head - but this project has been swimming around in my head for the past 3-4 years and finally splashed to the surface this morning.

There is NO pattern. I have images taken from a child's story book from the late 50's to early 60's to draw from. I first thumbed through this book some 4 years ago, and realised that the images would translate so nicely to stitchery and therefore a quilt. I bought the main fabric some time ago - it reminds me of sand swirling.
This is the first square stitched. This will be a colourful quilt - think of velvets and satins, jewel colours; aquamarine, golds, purples - I also plan plenty of sequins and beading.
Please join me on this journey. I'm sure to learn a lot of things along the way.

hey no fair! This is like reading a book in installments
May your stitches always be straight, your seams always lie flat, and your grain never be biased against you.

Wow.....this is going to be fun to see the progress on this. It is very enticing from the first look.

Square 2 - see pretty beads add sparkle

Thank you for your kind words and encouragement.
Today I finished square 2 - a sunburst that measures about 3" across.
I've embellished it with some beads to catch the sparkle..
I have created an album - and will post each square there as it grows...
teaser.......The next square will be a window...
