    Batik paper pieced star quilt

I joined a block-a-week sew-along on 1-1-12, and the group is working through Carol Doak's book 50 Fabulous Paper Pieced Stars. Many of the participants are doing all 50 stars (one named for each state) but I wanted to make a lap quilt. Here is my top, another scrappy batik waiting to be quilted. Thanks for looking.

Judy, your quilt is wonderful! I am having so much fun with this group. I am going to make all 50, but only 36 will go in my quilt, as it is scrappy and will need sashing. I don't want it to be as large as 50 blocks + sashing would make it.

I love the look with a single background fabric. I think I would do that if I had it to do over, which I probably will not! LOL

Be sure and post again when it's all quilted and bound!

I too have the book.. it is the single most used book I have ever owned. Your quilt is a very nice example of the wondeful blocks/quilts that can be created. I bet you make more!

Your quilt came out beautiful. I just got the book and I want to use Batiks for mine too. I am sure I won't make 50 blocks but will start out with the ones I really love then go from there...once the mood hits me to begin it.
