It is more pleasing than other sampler quilts because, as you mentioned, the fabrics mix quietly and also all the blocks are made from HST. The shapes are all similar enough to make them feel like they belong together. They also share a common background, white. I like sampler quilts and this one really works!

yes, the big boy quilt was made for a grdsn who will be 3 dec 24. he graduated to a twin bed. i have pretty much watched him for his working mom since he was born, but he started day care/preschool at the local school. thus, i can sew again. the ones i made for last xmas were D9P's. simply, easy, so i could churn them out in the evenings.
the BBQ was a kit from a LQS, and i added the blue with stars like in the border to increase the size.
