Birthday Quilt for my sister's 50th
#1
My sister turned 50 on May 6. I made this by hand piecing each of the squares. Each square I learned a different technique. After the 6 weeks I found out that this was not a beginner class but something I should have taken after the beginning hand piecing. Not realizing for each square became another shade of purple. That is my sister's favorite color. It was only right I gave it to her. Every time she called me and I said I was quilting and she asked what I had to tell a fib. For the label I had a picture of my parents, myself and Elaine was only one month old. Our mom passed away in 1973 at age 45 so this was special. I called the quilt Family the next generation. The sunbonnet girl and 3 boys represent elaine, her hubby Paul and their two sons Erich and Lance. We both had a good happy cry when she opened it.

The lady from a quilt guild I belong to did such a beautiful job. She outlined and highlighted what was on the front so the back really came out nice. I wish I could do that too. My favorite was the middle star.
