Buckeye Beauty in cat prints
I made this quilt for my co-worker. She is a fellow CCLIT (Crazy Cat Lady in Training). I did it all in neutrals with lots of cat themed fabric prints. I had a lot of fun collecting the cat fabrics. I picked up a lot of them on www.Felinedrive.com. A great source for cat themed fabric and all profit goes to support a feral cat colony on the owners property.
I didn't do a very good job in sorting value so the Buckeye Beauty pattern isn't quite as obvious as it should be. Some of the fabrics I selected as mediums should have really been lights but I still like how it turned out and I know my friend and co-worker will love it. I quilted it with a great paw print panto and used a fleece blanket for backing that I picked up at Walmart for only $10. Hobbs Polydown for batting and King tut thread on top in a variegated brown and black with a black prewound in the bobbin. I named the quilt "My Cats Walk All Over Me" but while making it I always referred to it as the cat hairball. LOL. I had enough fabrics leftover that I am making myself one as well only I rearranged the way I sewed the blocks together so I can make the layout like Bonny Hunter's Blue Ridge Beauty and I re-sorted those too light mediums into lights on mine. We learn something with every quilt.
