    Butterfly Block of the month

Mom and I have just started making butterfly blocks. It is a block of the month pattern from our local quilt shop which started in February. (of course we are a couple months behind..LOL). We are using fusible web and doing a straight stitch around all the edges. Mom's block is the one on the right and mine is on the left. They really do lie flat and in this picture we have not trimmed them down to the 14" yet. Very fun to make, but,oh so time consuming! There are 12 blocks to do. It is a kit with the fabric colors all picked out. Hope you enjoy seeing them and I will keep posting pictures as we get more done...Dee.....oh...we don't have the embroidery done yet for the antennae.( date is wrong of course on the pictures...guess I better fix that)

Your Monarch butterfly blocks are beautiful! My favourite is the one on the left because I can see the flower stems better. They are both really great and I will look forward to seeing the others.

Beautiful!! I love butterflies. I bought a kit to applique butterflies on the blocks but haven't tried to make it yet as I am not very good at that type of thing. Straight lines are more my speed, at least right now, lol.

Just finished a quilt with butterflies fashioned out of vintage handkerchiefs. Lot of work but worth it.

How fun both of you doing the same project together. They are both beautiful in their own way. Enjoy the time you both spend together.

Dee, I so wanted to join in that butterfly quilt BOM, but due to finances I didn't. Seeing your blocks makes me so irritated with myself I didn't join. Did you do the bird BOM last year?
Your blocks came out wonderful, it's great the you and your mom are doing them together!

They are so beautiful and realistic. I know you said BOM at a LQS, but did you have an actual pattern for these?
