Beautiful, beautiful, BEAUTIFUL! My hat is off to you for braving those materials. I don't even think about such stuff, let alone actually try it. :)

Thanks everyone - I bought it in a beautiful little LQS in Amsterdam, it just begged me to bring it home! It was all arranged, twinkly and bright, in a whicker basket right by the checkout, so what could I do? LOL

Patti, I'm plain crazy, thought you knew that by now! LMAO.

Beautiful piece. Nothing like the shine and shimmer of silk. I can empathize with the fraying though. I did a wall hanging of piano keys for my brothers step daughter. After a bit I ended up putting light fusible interfacing on the silk before I cut out the pieces. Saved what was left of my hair. lol

Thanks it took me awhile to figure it out. I wasn't sure she would like it since she is a preteen and they are sooo picky but it hangs next to her piano.

She'd have to be REALLY picky not to love that! It's amazing, the 3D effect of the keyboards. I can't even begin to imagine how you did that!

umm each key is a separate piece of fabric and then quilted in between. And the rest is just perspective. Took awhile to get the keys the right size. Some are a little off but I figure if it can't be seen from a galloping horse its ok

This is very impressive looking. I'm sure it was a lot of work but you stuck with it and you are right to put it aside until you(love) it? again to complete it. Good luck.

Thanks JB and Annz!

dama - I had a pretty good peer at it to try and see how you did it, and it looked beautiful even from a few inches away!
