Cat Panel Quilt Finished
Hi all. I completed the second of the two quilts I was making for my brother and SIL's granddaughters' Christmas gifts, and they are winging their way across the country to the far east coast to arrive before Christmas, which is such a relief!
I posted a thread about the first of the two quilts here: Turtle Panel Quilt Complete
This queen-sized quilt is for the 15 yo girl who loves cats. I did some agonizing of what quilt designs to put on it, and used my ruler quilting for the first time (eep!) on the piano key border. Wish I could say that every line is perfectly straight but...Jack came to visit and more practice is definitely needed. I had moments of wondering what I was thinking when I chose that border..
I used 80/20 Hobbs cotton/poly batting, fireside fleece on the back, and quilted it on my DSM. I was originally going to put a flanged binding on it with the multi colour cat fabric and black, but decided I really didn't like the black near the purple so just used the multi colour. It was difficult to get the colours to show up properly, but they came out right in the bottom picture of the piano key.
Thanks for looking.

Those turned out so well! The recipients are sure to love them. Thank you for the close ups of your quilting. It's amazing I too do all my own quilting on my DSM, so I really love to see others who do the same. It serves as great inspiration and helps spark ideas. So many quilts are long-armed now (not that there's anything wrong with that), but I can't replicate an all over quilting pattern so it's nice to see what others in my situation are doing.
