This started as a multi-class project @ the Viking Dealer in Sterling VA back in 2007. I don't do wall hangings, and wanted a quilt for my mother (queen size bed), so I got more coordinating fabric and started just adding borders until I got it big enough. Finally had it quilted this fall, and gave it to her @ Christmas. She really loves it!

Very nice quilt and very clever way to transorm a wall hanging into a bed quilt. I'm going to keep this idea in mind for myself. It's been bookmarked.

Wonderful job!! I also do not really do wall hangings as I prefer quilts. I have seen a few that loved though, and now I can buy them and do what you did!! :D It turned out beautifully. Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring!!

I will have to see if I have some pictures that contain a closeup of the center.........if I can find any that were taken, I will upload...Mother's bed sits up so high that she has to use a small step to get up into it. :-)

THANKS - the AVATAR is one of Blanche Young's designs from Traditions with a Twist, called Jamaica. Thought I would never get that pieced correctly.......colors on the picture do not really do it justice.....glad you like it...

OK - here you go.......found a few pics taken when I was putting this quilt together.

This is the center panel with the 2 borders that would have finished a wall hanging size.

Pattern called for 4 squares with pintucks, made with twin needles.

the center panel also had strips that had been gathered (no quilting inside these strips ).
