Thanks all! This was great fun to put together.
I used the 'tube strip' method - two 2 1/2 strips sewn together (the colours), white strip sewn to make the 'tube'.
Cut triangles from tubes. Arrange on design wall ...
Tonight I finished putting the binding on - found some fusible thread and tried out Klue's method for using this for applying the binding.
I again used decorative embroidery stitches along the seamlines to 'quilt' the layers together. Used variegated cotton thread - more than 1 km of thread for the decorative stitches!
Label, final photos, wash and it's ready to go to its new home :)

Gorgeous! I'm sure it will bring lots of comfort and warmth to the recipient. (Of course RECTANGLE can be verb.... I had to CIRCLE the parking lot for a space today and we all have to SQUARE up our blocks before we sew them together.)
