yes suzic, you're exactly right. it's actually a square folded corner to corner & embroidered on before you fold it - and sewn on when you sew the binding on, you're very smart to have figured that out by just looking at the poor quality picture.

it does look like a stripe, but it's batik fabric and it just happened to look like that after i cut it. thanks all

Well, dojo, I, too like it like that. Those are my favorite colors. Ever since I was a child (and I'm 69 on the 22nd), those were my favorite crayons. Today, I wear a lot of those colors. Beautiful quilt. :thumbup:

And what's so "lazy" about doing the binding by machine? That only means you're anxious to get started on your next quilt.
