my girls started sewing when they were 6 and 7 yrs (they were also in 4-H), now they will be 29 and 30 in a couple months, and they still enjoy sewing and have gone on to quilting in their later teen years. So keep it up, they are only young and it doesn't take much to keep them interested in a easy hobby and especially to share with their mom or even grandma. I can't wait for my DGD to get to age 5-6, so I can start with them. Course my grandson's know their way around a quiltshop too, they learned young.

Both her and the quilts are adorable. I can't wait to see what she does as she grows. I'll bet it is something breathtaking.

Just encourage, is what I say. Forget about the straight edges etc. that is for the stitch police and women's guilds. Tell her she's making an 'art quilt'...precision will come with age and experience. Both quilt and the child look joyful.
