You are amazing! I've recently done my very first two blocks. I think mine will take years, not months! They are fun, though- my grandmother compares making them to eating salted peanuts, hard to stop! lol

thank you ladies. Kristin, you are right. one of the reasons i started this was for everyone to see, that just working some on jane each day will get it done. I just loved the choc DJ. and wanted to do one myself. and i sooooo did not want it to turn into a UFO. it's already given away. to the one yr old granddaughter someday.

and i have a confession to make. started out with 2 strands of hand quilting thread. but, it kept getting tangled etc. some of the old timers used 2 strands, my grandma did. and i saw a vidio here that some fella posted from 1978. she used 2 strands. BUT i couldn't and didn't like the look of just one strand. so i switched to one strand of upholstry thread. and that is what you see in my quilt. after i did, then i realized that's what my mom must have used. when i cleaned out her stuff when she passed away, she had several spools of it.

Ah ha!!! So...you think you were cheating and then you found out that your MOM did it too???? hehehehehhehehehh!!!!! Girl, its your quilt....quilt it with whatever you want to use!! I've never used 2 strands of hand quilting thread...I'll have to give it a try...I HAVE used 2 strands of thread in the top when quilting on the machine and that really makes it look like hand stitching.

Very nice! I just bought the book yesterday, and am still in the 'planning' stage! Tomorrow I will tackle at least 1 block!

sandpat. yes, isn't it strange, something in the back of your mind will tell you to do it this way, then you remember where, or who told you to do it that way. like my little 'tough' sissors i have to help me pull the needle thru in some places. i remember some lady here on the board said that. and then i remember seeing my mom do that yrs ago. and they are her sissors.

Hmmm, hadn't thought to use scissors to do that. I use a piece of a balloon cut up to grab with and pull.
