Love your quilt! I've been "saving" jeans for one of these . . . some day I'll get to put one together, too

Your quilt is great. I have made 2 denim rag quilts and love the feel of them. For someone thinking of making one:
1. be sure to cut with the grain lines. 2. Fraying with a seam ripper works very well.

When I get them done, that is. I have them all washed and cut apart but not in strips yet. His Mom gave me a sample how to sew them together so he can put them thru the loom. She is from Sweden and spins and teaches spinning. So I must get them all done this year plus all the quilts I want to make. I did want to make 2 quilts with left over denim, one called "pockets" and one called "knees". I have not tried the rag quilts yet. My list is getting longer.
How will you clean a rag rug this large? I have the narrower loomed rugs, about 30 inches wide and the only denim one was made for me by a friend in return for my denim stash. The mixed cotton rugs were heavy when wet but the denim was super heavy.

Very nicely done denim rag quilt. I make them the same way you do. For girls/women, I fray them, but for boys/men, I sew the denim down so that it looks kind of like sashing around the print fabric. I also use deconstructed men's plaid shirts for the guys.
