I was looking at the website of my local quilt guild last night and saw a quilt that was made with Dick and Jane fabric, which I thought was so cool. So off I went to eBay and found a fabric and theme I liked and bought it. Below is the pic. It brought back such good memories of learning to read with Dick and Jane in first grade with Mrs. Phillips.

I'm thinking I'll make a quilted wall hanging out of it to hang in our sewing room. We have nothing hanging on the walls in there in the way of "art", so I thought this would be cool to do.

those are such sweet memories for me too. Sometimes it's the simple things that take us back. Reading opens up worlds. Awesome idea to pay tribute to it, Eddie.

That is utterly charming. I didn't learn to read with Dick and Jane (for some reason, my school had Tom, Betty and Susan), but the pictures are almost identical.

I grew up in Ohio and had Tom, Betty and Susan (and dog Flip!) also. I have warm fuzzy memories of first grade when I see this fabric...saying the Pledge of Allegiance, opening my lunch box, recess and the big, big slide, rain coats and galoshes. Eddie, it will make a charming wall decoration for your sewing room.

Wow, Eddie. Talk about time warp! I remember Mrs. Jones...first grade....Spot..... I even had a faint memory of the smell of the old book. Let us see what you do with it.

Well, Eddie I also remember the first grade in Benton, Arkansas --- Mrs. Cates. We read Dick and Jane. See Dick run. See Jane run.

Oh I love them!! I have a collection of Dick and Jane books. I taught my kids to read at age 3 with 1-2 of these books and that's all it took to get them started. I'll use them with my grandkids too!

I love the Brown Bear panels too....

I can't wait to see what you make.
