Default Dragonfly summer

Sorry, the wings don't show up well in the photos. My doc asked for a dragonfly wall hanging. This has given me more trouble than quilts most do. The pattern is my own. I did this QAYG. The cattails are hand sewn, but after that, the scene was sewn by machine, through the whole quilt sandwich, wings last. I got a picture of a dragonfly from a coloring page website, but altered it somewhat.

Love it!!! Real dragonflies have transparent wings, so you did very well!

Thank you. This quilt was a struggle, as I tried to match techniques to my mental images. The legs and the tops of the cattails are hand embroidered, but I used machine blanket stitch for the leaves and a straight metallic thread stitches for the wings. My DH insisted that I needed to add eyes, so they are hand embroidered with metallic machine thread. Now that I have the techniques figured out, DH wants something similar, but with a red dragonfly.

Very creative. I love those very "fine" wings.
