So my chicken was the perfect choice for mine. The background was a black/white stripe. I rotary cut it 1/2" wider than the stripe and sewed them together for the checkerboard. I've had the fabric for quite some time. When I went to zig-zag the applique, I discovered that my machine's width button is not working :cry: But I found the buttonhole stitch and decreased the length... that worked! whew! I can't wait for my g'kids to come over and see the surprise on the front door.

If my kids had seen that when they were young, they probably wouldn't eat easter eggs. After all, it might hatch. I had enough trouble keeping them out from under the beds and out of dressers. Phewww stinky. They don't hatch kids. Don't know when they finally believed me.
