The colorful one would be in the "quilt top" catagory? Definately enter that one. For the pieced... the sampler. For the group I am sure that no one would mind their blocks being entered!

I have only entered 2 quilts in a county fair, many, many years ago. How long ago is that one of them was in the catagory of "Quilter's First Quilt" and I won first place. The other one, made for my sister, didn't win anything but hey... I was new at it too.

In any case it was such a thrill to go to the fair and see MY quilts hanging there for everyone to see.

I love the Log Cabin quilt, as well as the bright colored top You're a very talented artist. Beautiful drawings! Can't choose between the two.

Wow, Have you got talent girl! I think they all are suitable choices for the categories. How far off is the deadline to have them in? I would be hesitant to be working on too many with the same deadline, but maybe you are the type that works well under pressure!

Thank you for the needed pep talk, Patrice. Got it! As with all of us, I am my own worst critics and when I see truly OUTSTANDING work like Nekkid Canandian"s I also see my own work falling short (shorter than hers!)... but I'm NOT competing with anyone but myself and I know that my work improves with each project so actually, I'm not selling myself too short...I'm quite happy with my own progress. I just appreciate the outstanding work of others.

Gosh, I don't EVEN know how to answer you. The last time I entered anything in the fair was when I was 17 and entered my rabbit. She got 1st place. :D
Anyways I really love all your quilts and I know you'll get 1st place (blue Ribbon?) for all. And the paintings... WOW! you are really good.
Keep up the good work and good luck
Let us know how it goes ok? :D

Feathers, I have seen your work, and it's great. You're into stuff I haven't even looked into yet :)
I've only been quilting for a little over a year now, there are SO many talented people on this board, I love to hear their opinions and constructive criticism.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, I think I've pretty much made my decision, I just have a lot of work left!

Wow! Between your gut feelings and the good advice from the nice people here, I think you'll make the right choices. Good luck!

I am in a quandry when I consider my county fair, because I worry about theft. I have never heard of a quilt getting stolen from the county fair, but I would be devastated if it ever happened! Usually when I get a quilt finished I save it for the quilt show at my Mom's church. It's a very relaxed show, and there is no judging or strict quilting "law" there. That show is about a month after the fair, so if anything "happened" to a quilt at the fair, it would mess up being ready for the church show.
Perhaps I should look into the county fair security before I should assume the worst. And, now that there are two quilt shops fairly close by, perhaps I can ask other quilters about their fair experiences. Shame on me, I haven't even gone to the fair in years! And I live within spittin' distance!

Sorry to be so long winded! Melanie, your work is gorgeous! I love your avatar!
