Is there plastic in the bottom of the third one or just fabric only?

Very nice bowls!
Sometimes when I use dark colors on some bowls or postcards, I have to satin stitch two (or three) times around the edges.

Only fabric - I ironed fusible to all the fabric and there is low loft poly batting inside. The centre squares therefore have four layers of fabric/fusible as well as the batting, which gives the stiffness. I'm working on another to get the satin stitch better - it's the first part of sewing up the side that is tricky.

Thanks for the tip about going round the edge more than once though - perhaps if I do a wider zig zag first then go over that with satin stitch, that would work better. I'll try and report back. :-D I'm also going to try one with Fast 2 Fuse today.

OK - I just made one with the Fast 2 Fuse and in spite of it being smaller (I only had an 8" square) hence more fiddly, I think it's OK. Butterflywing suggested I zigzagged the sides from the centre out first to hold them then satin stitch over the top and this worked brilliantly. I also went twice round the rim with the satin stitch as greencat suggested and that combined with the fact that the Fast 2 Fuse is more stable worked fine. It's still a little bit lumpy here and there but I think it's OK. I don't know what was going on with my tension though that I got that two-tone effect on the back but I quite like it!

Anyway, I'm going to get some more Fast 2 Fuse and persevere. I need to really have it down pat if I want to teach it in my workshop.
