Oh my gosh....words cannot even begin to describe just how beautiful your quilt is. You truly are an inspirational master. Thank you SO much for sharing your quilt...AND, later on all of your tips.

Would you please adopt me so I might inherit even a small piece of your work some day? (Oh dear, I just realized I'm probably older than you, so that won't work!)
Your work is absolutely inspirational. I hope I live long enough to accomplish something like this quilt!

What is the size/count of the thread.....aren't there thicker threads for handquilting vs machine quilting?
I like John James Betweens #11 most, but I've also used Roxanne, Clover, Piecemaker, Richard Hemmings - all size #11 or #12.
On dark fabrics I use watercolor pencil in a matching color, for light fabrics I do needlemarking with a darning needle.
My favourite hand quilting thread is YLI, but I also use Gütermann and King Tut of Superior Threads. The top fabric is a fine woven (with a high thread count like 75x75 threads per inch) solid called "Amish Cotton" - but this brand is not longer available here and I prefer P&B or Moda Bella Solids.
For the backings I like to use flower prints of P&B, Quilt Gate and others.
