I like them both - but I'm a sucker for scrappies!

Those are beautiful quilts. I like the black background and the first as it really pops the blocks.

I have never made a string quilt. Yours is beautiful. Very cheery. The black has good contrast.

I would love to know how you made the string quilt. Did you start with an 11" muslin and batting, then stitch, flip, quilt and repeat stitch, flip, and quilt. when 11" covered, trim block square to 10.5", and cut on diagonal? Next add white sashing with the qayg method? Would love to know your method. It turned out fantastic.......Jane

Did you have a pattern if so could you please share or did you "just wing it".
I started out with a 12-1/2" square of muslin. Drew a line across corners and started cutting scraps. No special measure of the scraps, just what I thought would look good. I have all my scraps in large plastic bags by color....green, blue, yellow, gold, brown, pink & purple. I just pull a few scraps out and cut them 1" or 3/4" or maybe even 1-3/4" - it is all just what I think would go good together. I love to make scrap string quilts but the pile never seems to dwindle.

Beautiful string quilt. I have made several, I don't think to try other layouts.
