Thank you. Yes I think he will, he is already the head gardener, supervising any work I do and showing his disapproval with anything he doesn't like. He has really taken the quilt as his own, and is anxious for me to replace it when I shake it up.

    Hi Loulou,

No I don't belong to a club. I am learning through books, the internet and mostly this site!

Do you have any good quilting shops in Southampton? We have one in Salisbury, but I mostly buy my fabrics online where there is more choice.

    Barbara.

What is the name of the pattern or the block. Would like to try that quilt. The pattern would make a nice baby quilt.

    Hi Barbara

Unfortunatley one of our very good shops closed last month.

Romsey quilters are a club who meet in Romsey which is not far from salisbury, i belong to Southampton Quilters i'll ask around for you if there are any in Salisbury. i'm sure there is because we've had a couple of guest speakers from that way.

I foud joining a club is excellent as they run workshops and you learn new techniques.

I tend to use Doughty's online or wait until I go to the shows.

I would like to encourage you to attend a guild meeting or two. There are often a lot of things you can learn, which is wonderful, but the friendships you can make with other quilters is just amazing. If one guilt doesn't seem to be a good fit, try another. I know I would not be the quilter or the person I am today without some of the amazing friendships I have with a handful of ladies I met through my local guild. I certainly can't imagine my life without these ladies! It's a great thing and I gladly encourage others to give it a try. And if you are like me, you'll be surprised to learn you have a lot you can teach others too. You've got a great eye for color and balance, something many people struggle to learn for years and I bet you'll fit right in.
