In the interval before making another cover, perhaps you would like using a flat piece of material. I bound the edges with bia tape for each of two protective covers used for my homemade big board and smaller pressing surface. A heavy twill cotton is the same fabric I used for the original surface. My original cover remains neat and clean. The protective covers are easily laundered so any bleed through of fabric dye is easily removed.

In addition to everyone else’s comments. This is a great ironing surface to take to a class. Small enough to fit near your seating and with your own travel iron, no waiting in line for the provided iron. :-)
