How did you do the furry look to your applique stitch? Is part of it by hand? It makes the bear look more dimensional also.

the blocks are very square. They dont lay flat as I am attaching a piece of batting under the blanket to get a kind of 3D effect - hopefully.....

I found the design by allstitching.com and its all done by the embroidery machine

Adorable!! And great job on the embroidery, too! I like the brown sashing as it doesn't compete with the beds. Then probably the yellow print for a border, maybe doing a scallop border or prairie points.

As for layout, I would alternate boy-girl and then see how they play out with the design and colors of their little blankies.

I love it. Makes a great little boy quilt. May try to make one myself as I make baby quilts for new babies born at our church and try to stick with boy/girl patterns.

I like the brown sashing. Really makes the bears pop!
