Hello, I havent' been very active on this board for several weeks now. But sometimes life gets in the way and you have to put all aside and take care of whatever it is. I wanted this done for a Christmas present for my GGRDSON Cayden. Just put the last stich in today.
Now this is a crayon quilt and I wasn't sure how long the color was going to last. I discovered after the fact about TEXTILE MEDIUM. I didn't know anything about the stuff and no one else I knew seemed to either. So after researching and hunting for a store in my area, Finally found one it is MICHAELS. I am going Tuesday to Valdosta to get me a couple of bottles. NOw the Dilemma... Instructions are paint on with a brush and press until dry. OKAY!! No Can Do!! Quilt is finished. Now if I paint it on and then use my HAIRDRYER won't that be the same as heat is what sets the color.
Please give me some opinions has anyone tried this before? Well I am going to do it and will post when I find out after the owners have washed the quilt.
This is a Great site and so many new people are on now you will not be sorry this is the PLACE. The top under the sports quilt is my own comforter that is next on the sewing machine.

I have absolutely no idea if that will work...but it sure sounds good   I've never done that technique, but I've seen it on tv. Hopefully it will work for you...that is a great quilt...I guess I'm really nieve, but why couldn't you lay the iron on top of the section after you put the product on it? I'm not saying actually IRON, but just to set the iron down??? And I'm asking....not recommending.. :?

I just heard you set the crayon color with an iron....hey how big is your microwave...they use it sometimes dyeing fabric. I don't think the hairdryer would be hot enough

Great job on the quilts! I'd be really tempted to go ahead and iron the medium - I always iron my binding out on quilts, and haven't had anything dire happen to them (knock on wood!)

I love your little guy's quilt. He will just love it, I am sure. Did you set the crayon coloring first? I have heard that is enough to hold in the color. I am wondering, if the crayons are wax and you try to paint on over that, will the paint adhere?

Yes it is my 3rd one. I want to do one for myself one day but not anytime soon. After 3 I need a brake from coloring.

Yes I did set it by pressing on cotton setting but there seems to be different oppinions about whether it will fade. So I decided to help it by doing this. It is suppose to do the job. When you press it after coloring it takes all the wax off and leaves the color.
