Your mom will love it. When I see stuff like this, it makes me so sad that I can't sew for my mom. She was an excellent seamstress and made all my clothes when I was a little girl, including mother-daughter Easter dresses every Easter. She died in 1997 from an agressive form of leukemia. I thought we'd have her many more years, but she got sick and died within a week's time. I still miss her every mother's day. I didn't learn to quilt until a few years ago, and I so wish I could have made a quilt for her. (She didn't quilt, but her mother did.)

It is a similar idea except that you use lining not a sweatshirt to sew your strips to. This one has no raw edges as they are encased in the channel that is quilted so that finishes it off nicely. I'm glad you like it!

I retired a year early to spend time with my mom. She's 86 and in reasonably good health so that we can still take day trips and do some fun things. Hopefully we are making memories that will get us though the hard times when they come because we all know that things will get worse as time passes. Treasure the memories of your mother.
