beautiful let us know if it wins a prize at the fair...........it reminds me of a quilt i made for my sister. my sister HATES handmade anything however when she bought a summer log home in upsate NY she couldn't find any bedding to match. she kept telling me there is wilderness fabric if she sewed she would make a quilt herself. i took the hint thinking she wanted me to make it. STUPID me made her an quilt. the cabin had a name so i embroidered the name in the center block which i had an appliqued log cabin that looked exactly like her cabin. she didn't know i was making it and before i was finished she bought a puff quilt since it kind of looked log cabiney. my quilt was beautiful and i loved it, i wasn't going to give it to her but my mom said it was made for her give it. i did and to my knowledge she never put it on the bed (it was queen size) i visited the cabin a few times after i gave it to her and she always had that store bought puff quilt. i now wish i hadn't given it to her and instead saved it for my DS.

ck: I think when you give it to her you might mention that you want to enter it in the Fair and see what ribbons might be rec.'d on hers, since BIL 's rec.'d ribbons. If nothing else just to get her opinion. I think it is pretty. Sometimes when I finish a quilt, I've put a lot of time and special fabric and effort into , I hate to give them up, sort of like losing part of onesself. But then I get the warm fuzzy feelings and know if I'm giving to a special person, that I hope they love it as much as I did making it.

i am torn about the fair this year...my sister wants her quilt to win the viewers choice this year...my grandaughter's both want to enter their quilts this year (they were out of state last year and i couldn't get the quilts from them in time) and my mother-in-laws has not gone in yet. so, i will be competing against myself for this year's ribbons...she will be ticked if one of the other ones win and her's doesn't. last year i had 4 in, 3 were blue ribbon winners, one of those also took the best of show, and the 4th one took a red-second place ... you are allowed ONe ITEM per catagory, so ...i might not get mother-in=laws, then i think i can cover 3 or 4 different catagories and not directly compete with sisters' as much. when i picked up my quilts last year after the fair they took pictures for the fair book and newspaper then told me, since i took viewers choice 3 years in a row they are expecting great things this year...nothing like a little pressure :)

I think I would enter them all. If your sister's doesn't win the ribbon she wants it to, it isn't your fault. After all you are just entering your work and someone else is doing the judging. You have no say so on that. Even if you entered just your sister's quilt, there is no guarantee that the quilt would win the ribbon she wants it to win. She should understand that you are not doing the judging and have no say as to what if any ribbons a particular quilt will win, unless she talks to the judges before they view any of the quilts. lol. Everyone who sees a quilt has a different opinion about that particular one. Some like it and some don't. That's what makes quilting so unique and fun, different quilts for different folks.
