Thank you Grandma Peg. Yes, I agree we are hard on ourselves. I can't expect it to be perfect for my first time around. I like the idea of an X in the squares.

Hi Barb, yes my machine has many decorative stitches. I never thought about using those and I like the idea of maybe a stitch in the ditch, then 1/2" on the inside of each block. Thanks again

What a great first quilt! I love your colors...very well done. My first quilt was never quilted. It was so bad but I kept it and look at it often and laugh.

Wonderful top!!! Read the packaging on your batting. It will tell you the minimum distance apart your quilting lines need to be. This measurement is in all directions, including the diagonal! You want to follow this info as it will keep the batting from bunching and/or deteriorating thru use and laundering.

That is a very nice first quilt. There are lots of very positive things to be said. Your rows are lined up so nicely and that is not easy when you are dealing with blocks and sashing. I think it is great that you see some of the areas you might have done better. Please don't fret over them-just save the knowledge for your next quilt. This one looks great. You know the problems could not be significant if you had to point them out to an observer. As for quilting: google cross=hatching and you would be good to go. You will see lots of different suggestions for doing it. it can be done over the whole quilt or one block at a time. Please show us what you do!

It looks great. I would practice different quilting patterns in each block. I did one and it came out quite well. It was fun too and I learned a lot.
