I find it easier to control.i marked pattern on top and cut out leaving1/4 inch allowance . Then I lightly spray basted the bottom fabric on in one big square, patter suggested circle but cut back later. It was easier to handle as I had an operation on wrist and was using the quilt as exercise.

It went together very quickly in blocks which I quilted but I had too go over my hand sewing as I didn't like the look

How many hours was dependent on how good my wrist thumb and first finger were playing . I started about February this year.

Truly beautiful quilt! If that is therapy, I don't know what you would call work! Amazing!

I have often wondered if one could reverse applique by machine. Since you have experience with it by hand, what is your thought of doing by machine? Just wondering.

Your work is beautiful. Congratulations. Love the fabric/color selection.

My answer is yes with a little forethought . I did hand stitch but didn't like it so I did machine . Here is a close up. You would have to work out how to turn edge hold down to sew. Perhaps a glue stick etc.
