Eleanor Burns has a very nice tool for making scallaped borders and vines and exceptional instructions. I just finished doing the borders yesterday on a large baby quilt and they turned out very nice. Included is a chart of measurements so you don't have to go crazy trying to figure out how many repeats of the scallaps or vines. That's a nice touch!

I am waiting for my small quilt to come back from the LAQ. I marked the scallops before I sent it in case she needed to see that. I used freezer paper cut to the length of the sides and the ends. I folded it until I liked the width of each scallop and cut the scalloped edge. Then I ironed the paper to my quilt, one side at a time and marked it with wash out marker. I haven't cut my bias border yet and am trying to decide what width to cut it. Do you use a single layer binding or a double layer?
