Beautiful, are you going to stick to the same colors right through?

Yeah, Brenda went, like, "oops, my bad."
Should be more like 15 yards (machine) or 8 yards (hand).

    Excerpt below:

How much background do I need?

In the book , I suggest 5 yards for the entire quilt. This is an error on my part. If you are hand-piecing, you will need about 8 yards. If you are machine piecing, I recommend about 15 yards. However, if you are foundation piecing, you will need about twenty. This information had been graciously provided by those who have made the top. (Myself? I have made many Jane quilts, blocks and triangles.

I really recommend you check out that website. There is all kinds of good info on constructing most of the blocks, even if you have all the rulers and the software. It's mostly user contributions, who've walked the walk. So for every typo, misprint, convoluted block, wt& moment - someone else had already come up with a solution.
I foundation pieced mine, and wasted a bit in the beginning, because it was the first time I had used the technique, but I soon cottoned on and don't think I wasted much after the first few blocks. What I did do was extend the pattern pieces on the outside edges a little bit, so that I could trim down after the block was made, and I was really pleased with that. Best of luck with your endeavours, there is a greatt feeling of achievement once you have it on the bed!

The DJ site is very good.

I also had the pleasure of going to Empty Spools last year and having Brenda P as an instructor. She is a wonderful teacher.
