Default First Fidget Quilt

Saw a post a few days ago by NancyBobcat about Fidget quilts for dementia patients.

We have a senior center close to our house where my DH volunteered for a few years to sing once a month for the patients, since I don't sing I have been trying to figure out what I can to to volunteer. I love to sew and did not know there was a need that I could fill. Here is the first of my projects, I have a lot of bits and bobs to be able to make the quilts interesting. This one is a little visual intensive, my next one will be a little calmer.

I need to attach a pull for the zipper that is in the blue/brown fabric but other than that it is done and is totally washable. This is about the size of a place-mat. So for me they are a great - I get instant gratification, since they take only a few hours from start to finish.

Great first quilt, we had a challenge at our local quilt shop for this same thing. Keep up the great job you are doing. Mary

I have a friend who does these for a local elder care facility. We all need to do our bits for the world around us. Our sewing skills can be put to use in so many ways and places. I really like doing projects for a local need and I know my efforts are appreciated.
