So nice. You are right.....it is harder to sew with clothing. I made by daughter a quilt top using her deceased husband's shirts. Turned out really nice but more time involved. Thanks for sharing.

This is true. The fabric in these is really nice. Soft. beautiful. I have a bunch with pinks and purples. I want to do something with all pinks/purples.

I never noticed in the states so many pink striped and purple striped shirts. Maybe men wear them more in western Europe than in the US. Our used clothing generally comes from western Europe, but esp. Great Britain.

I usually see more red plaids and blue plaids in the states or blue or a variant of blue stripes, etc. (Maybe the reds sell out as I only go to the stores during their massive sales and the reds are all gone.) But I think that they don't wear these colors as much here since I have checked out the more expensive (non reduced) used shirts and there doesn't seem to be any/many with red.

Beautiful......well worth the extra work. I find that working with used fabric/clothing really seems to get your creativity flowing, somehow it is very freeing (hard to explain). I tend to make less mistakes and work faster when using re-cycled fabric. Give me a pile of new quilting fabric and I seem to drag my heels.

It is freeing in that you know that you need to do something with this as a trip to the quilt shop isn't an option as it truly isn't for me. This then forces me to come up with something using what I have...not what I will run to the store and get.

I am constantly looking for things at the used clothing stores though--every time I go--either curtains, sheets or maybe clothing (depending on my mood and how cheap they are).

As it is, I could really use a 100% cotton nice quality flat sheet or duvet cover in dark (hot) pink. That would be so wonderful. So far I've not found one. Which means my potential project using the pink stripes/pink shirts is on hold until I can manage to find what I am envisioning. (Might be a year or so or I might change my mind and revamp my idea.)

Great idea! Looks good! It reminds me of the lady who used selvages to decorate her little houses to make it look like Xmas. lights around the house! I used to cut the numbers out to use as door numbers on the houses but never thought of lights! So using labels and selvages adds great interest while making the best use of scraps too!
