I see lots of that ilk at Goodwill or Salvation Army stores, where we might buy one in good shape to use for dog bedding.

Unless there is something we don't know or see about this comforter, it's not of much value at all.

The appraiser would probably charge more than the item is worth.

I think it would be extremely valuable to a small child who is old enough to adore Mickey Mouse. He or she would love it as a gift.
Why on earth would this guy believe that it is a jewel of a quilt? Either he is hurting for money, or someone has been yanking his chain!!!

It is only worth what someone is will to pay.

As a retired Antiques Appraiser...Disneyana is not very hot these days. I doubt there is much interest in this. Definitely check Ebay/ That is still a good thermometer for what people will pay.

I used to do appraisals , too---think this is not worth the money for an appraisal. With stains and repair, I believe it is of little value. though IF you found someone dying to have that exact item, who knows--some people are nuts!

My thought exactly. A friend of mine had a family heirloom quilt hand appliqued and hand quilted in the early 1800s, and the appraiser charged $45, which I think was reasonable as he wanted to insure it. I don't think the comforter would be worth the price of an appraiser.

I'd say he'd be extremely lucky to get $5 for it at a yard sale...

I blame Antiques Roadshow and other TV shows like that for this kind of thinking. Not everything is valuable.

I always had the problem of "but the BOOK says it is worth $$$$$" when the retail price given varies wildly round the country---and they are NOT going to get retail selling to a dealer!On the other hand, there was a time when Iris glassware was selling consistently 30-50% OVER "book"! Just depends on supply and demand...
