Default Fuse-able or not?

This client used a heat and bond to fuse the sunflower on the body of the fabric and then added a stabilizer to the back of that! She then had to cut out the stabilizer as it was too heavy to sew on! Thank heavens for that, or I would not have been able to quilt the sunflower at all, I did a cross hatching on the blue and a curved cross hatching on the middle of the sunflower. The outer boarders, are meandering curls! Sorry it's kind of hard to see! now it's all done and been gifted to her granddaughter!

Wow. That was a lot of stabilizing. But it turned out great. Nice quilting too

Love the look of crosshatching. You might tell her to cut out the large portions of the applique. You only need about 3/8" around the edges. I haven't had time to start working on these flip flops but this photo will show you the heat n bond fusible. F&P taught me this.

Correct, especially if you're doing several pieces with Heat 'N Bond, it will make the quilt stiffer. And if there are 2-3 layers of parts on top of parts --- it's great for doing the blanket stitch because it all works as stabilizer, but it gets very stiff in certain areas. It's perfectly fine for table runners or wall hangings, but for a bed quilt, I'd try to minimize the size of the Heat 'N Bond for the larger pieces, exactly as you showed on the flip-flop.

Great job by both of you. I am sure it will be cherished for a long time.

just be glad she evidently used a fusible that you could quilt through!
