Just a quick look at your Featherweight tells me that this is probably a late 1940's model. It looks identical to my mom's machine which was purchased in 1947. Yours has the older Egyptian scroll faceplate and gold decals, full size tray for attachments and older style case. All of these "clues" indicate that your machine is pre 1950. After 1950 they started putting striated (striped) face plates on their machines as they were cheaper to manufacture and changed the gold decals. The cord set has been switched at some point as the original ones which probably cracked would have been black. Happy stitching!

Ohhhh, lucky you. She even has the fancy faceplate. I am green. Shame on me, I have two but they are plain Janes.

Guess I don't know much about FW...what and where is the bobbin tension on top of the bed??

looks great - I notice a make-shift for the handle. I you so desire, you can go to e-bay (feather weight handles) on the internet and find a handle that has buckiles and buckles on to the "D rings" on the case for about $18.00, which you can attach your self. Thought you might like to try this. missbelle
