The pattern was from an Australian magazine, Quilters Companion Vol2 No1 Issue 5 and was called Compass Colours by Dawn Toomey. I cut my templates out of freezer paper and whip stitched them together like you would with English paper piecing (the flying geese were fun :mrgreen: )
It was a great portable project.

It's amazing how much you can get done while waiting. I never thought I would enjoy hand piecing (I thought Jinny Beyer was mad for hand piecing such huge quilts) but I find it very relaxing.
I'm working on another hand piecing project as well :mrgreen:
