Lovely quilt and gesture. Your friend will be this age (?) for an entire year why celebrate just one day! Give it to her when finished. I am certain she will love it no matter where in the year she actually receives her "birthday" gift.

Wow, that is such a beautiful quilt. Love the ribbon stripes which give it a modern look (to me) and just that much of a difference to other flag type quilts.
