Golden Tapestry

The pattern calls for Dupioni silk for the background fabric. Too expensive for me so I used a dark cocoa brown sateen (similar to lining fabric). The thread is Coats & Clark metallic gold. It took 8 spools of thread. And I used all white pre-wound bobbins. Not even one white dot of bobbin thread pulled through the dark fabric. Finished quilt is 70" x 60". Lots of blocks in the design and borders. The most difficult task was piecing and sewing the squares so they lined up evenly to make the picture.

You did an amazing job on this! I've seen this embroidery pattern and wondered how well the sections would fit together once done, this definitely answers my question. I have the Serenity Prayer thats done the same way, now I'm excited to give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
