What a neat story and a beautiful keepsake. The embroidery is fantastic.

My mother in law made a friendshsip quilt of all her friends. She took a square of one of their clothing and embroidered their name, etc., on it and pieced/quilted it.
She made one mistake....she forgot to put a block of her on the quilt.
My youngest daugther now has the quilt.
A treasure......you are lucky to inhereit it.

This is indeed a treasure. Love the embroidery. Love the group work. Sad that some of the women signed their work: Mrs. {husband's last name}, instead of Lois, Jane, etc. plus the surname. And you are right, that it was such a treasure in that travel and visits were not so easy as today. Treasure it! Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful!!! Now, before you forget , put that story on a label and put it on the back so that other generations will know. Make sure you include the dates your aunt lived.

How beautiful! It just amazes me to see how beautiful they hand embroider, some of the names look like they were done on machines. I used to love to hand embroider but injury to my arm prevents but I can make quilt tops and love it!

You know you have a real treasure, and to know the story... Now that's what quilting is all about!
