Grandmother's bed cover

What a beautiful family heirloom to pass on to your children with the story of how it came to be. The hand embroidery is lovely and such treasured gift from her friends. Enjoy this treasure and thank you for sharing.

What a treasure! It's a lovely story for a truly lovely bed covering. The suggestion that you make a label telling the story is a good one, and it reminds me that I should do the same for the 3 quilts I've inherited from my grandmothers and one of DH's grandmothers. It's too easy for that part of family history to slip away. we know the stories of our inherited quilts, and our children may know them, but THEIR children probably don't.

I would love to see more of the signatures. I grew up down the road about 20 miles. I remember Susie Detenbeck. Many of my family, grandparents, etc. are buried in the Detenbeck cemetery south of Elwood. Great piece of handwork!
