    I like the green - it makes the plate look scrappier

    I think the green is softer (more traditional) and the brown is more modern. Have you thought about the look you want? I personally like the green.

    I like the brown.....but the idea of layering also sounds nice

    I would use both colors and make it scrappy. Maybe even throw in some blue ones.

    I can see what she is saying, when I first looked my first impression was brown, after going back I noticed the other colors more with green. So you can go with whichever you feel more comfortable with, or mix them up.
