As Kellyk said, every time I go back and look at this fabulous quilt I see more details. Just noticed that you trimmed the outer pinwheels with a co-ordinating fabric.
What beautiful work you do.

Thank you all so much for the praise, it runs down like silk
I did come up with the pattern myself.(kept asking on this board) The problem about me is that I dont have a complete plan from the beginning.
I just go step by step and I ended up with the fact that I was not able to do the 3D pinwheel on every other 6" patch - I would have had an empty spot on every second corner. To make every 6" one would have been too crowded.
But the corner pinwheels had to be on 6" patches as it was the size of the pyramidborders and even with quite some math you might be able to see that the distance between the pinwheels in the corners are a bit bigger than between the other ones. 2.5" instead of 2".............
For the footprints I cut pieces from the muslin I used for the back and put them on freezerpaper to stabalize (I think I got this tip also from this board) handed it to the mothers together with water soluble fabricpaint that is heatset. I cut them a bit bigger than the actual print and appliqued them to the back after quilting.

Just have to make them bigger and trim after folding. It also has the advantage to stabilize the fabric and they dont crumble too much after washing.
I came up with the idea as I figured that it would add to the 3D and I am very proud of that one (also invent the wheel every other week  )
