I have admired your avatar. Thank you so much for posting a larger picture. This is jaw-droppingly gorgeous and you definitely have a very rare talent. I love how you even did the highlighting on the mermaids body to simulate underwater reflections of light. Please tell us how your GD reacted when she first saw it? She had to have been thrilled beyond words. I agree with so many others you should enter it in some shows if you can get it loaned back to you for that. Absolutely stunning work.

Not that it should or would win any prizes, but most judges and even most quilters dont show much interest in art quilts. Some shows dont even have a category yet for art quilts. Then they expect a small quilt or wall hanging when they do. I make these in queen size so they can be used if the kids want. Most of my quilts get started with an idea or picture I have seen then adapted. It comes down to applique work all said and done.
