We take 2-3 lonnnnnnngggggg car trips per year. I take hand embroidery along to do but always wished there was a way I could do some quilting in the car. Once I took my hoop and tried handquilting in the car, but found it awkward to do.

I saw this tutorial on the faux cathedral windows and thought I'd give it a try as we have a car trip coming up in about 10 days. I wanted to try it out before I got everything ready for the trip just in case I found I didn't like it.

I really like it even though the blocks aren't "perfect". :)

And here is a pic of the first 3 blocks that I completed tonight. I made mine smaller than what they say in the tutorial...I decreased mine down to 3.5" finished because I have a LOT of 3.5" squares already cut in my scrap savers system (ala Bonnie Hunter), and because I think it makes a nice size to handle while traveling.

Those are all so pretty. What a great project. I can't wait to see how many you get done on your trip.
