Default Hanky quilt in memory of my mom

I had posted my sewing "cave" aka the den here in our new place and it showed parts of a Hanky quilt that was on my wall, and I was asked to post a better picture of it, so here it is. These were all my mom's and I couldn't part with them, but needed to figure out how to be creative with them. I bought a quilting book that suggested something like this. My hubby made the hanger for another project but we put the hanky quilt in it and thus it is folded back on both ends as it is bigger than the hanger and that portion of the den wall was only so big, thus we came up with the way it is. Thanks for looking.

Thank you so much for posting the larger picture.....it's lovely as I said before....I have a lot of hankies from my mom and grandmother (long gone) as well as from elderly church ladies who are no longer with us. I started a butterfly hanky quilt many, many years ago but never finished it.....I loved this tribute to your mom so I think you've inspired me to pick some of my favorites from my collection and do something similar. I just read your profile....I'm a retired accountant and music teacher as well......great minds?......

    blessings....thanks again....

Did you applique the hankies to squares of fabric or did you sew borders onto the hankies? Thanks for sharing.

Stitched them onto the big blocks....all of it is machine sewn.
