For the tee shirts I used lightweight iron on fusible and applied it with the grain perpendicular to the grain of the teeshirts to make it even more stable.
With slippery fabrics I would suggest doing test to be sure they can withstand the heat required to fuse. When you go to buy your fusible you will see the different weights it comes in and for which types of fabrics each is recommended. I would go with the lightest weight you can, so your quilt will stay soft.

Here is my attempt at recycling a bright shirt from the charity shop. Also a four patch made from a cotton skirt I wore and loved 30 years ago, a Rose and Hubble fabric. Both yet to be layered and quilted.
