I am a Navy wife and if I were there I would bid on it for sure, and you better get more then 100 for it. Maybe you can bid on it too so that you make them fork out more money.. just a little trick. I love it.. good job!!

I'll have to ask when I go to drop it off.
But, I'm sure there will most likely be a bidding war on it.
Then those that don't get it will probably hunt me down and ask if I'll make them all one.
Wait...that's a great idea you had! Let the auction announce that this is the One And Only Ever To Be Made quilt, and let the bidders either bid high or lose out

I would LOVE to keep it myself, but bid on it to drive the price up? No, I'll just make another one, maybe
It's not exactly what I wanted to do. What I wanted was....embroidered "dolphins" (not flipper looking ones, these signify submarines) in the middle, with the I love my Submariner around it, but couldn't get the "dolphins" and wasn't going to pay anyone for them. Especially the lady who said SHE has the copywrite on it. I DON'T THINK SO!! This "dolphin" insignia has been around for over 100 years and I don't think she is that old. I tried to digitize it with my program, but found that my program is "lost" on my computer and I cannot for the life of me find the discs. So...I just changed it to Sailor, so that way, EVERYONE can bid on it.

But thank you to everyone for their kind words.

Oh, I don't think it will be a one of a kind, someone will most likely approach me and ask if I'll make them one. SURE!! How much money you got???

Leslee.....Love your Hawaiian Quilt avatar. I have one myself, but it's called Under The Sea. Really really cute, it is. I also have my name on a quilt that was being made by a guild in Hawaii. I was wandering around fabric shops and whatnot and came across some ladies embroidering a quilt. I just stood and watched and chatted a bit with them. They invited me to help. I refused at first, then they sat me down and I was there for a little over an hour "helping" them. When I excused myself to leave, they wanted to make sure they had the spelling of my name right so they could add it to the "Makers" of the quilt.

Thank you! That quilt was my first large one; it took close to 200 hours of work to complete. You probably saw the postings in the Pictures section.

Talking to a few Hawaiian ladies who did some amazing work, they were telling me of quilts that have taken as long as 2 years for them to complete. UGH!!
I think Hawaiian Quilts are awesome, but not tackling one of those any time soon!

I agree with you. To tell you the truth, I'm scared to put it on a bed yet! You should probably try a pillow or wallhanging size one someday, just for fun. I promise you won't get too addicted...

Mine isn't on the bed. I take it out once a month to give it a shake or 2. My cats, even tho they don't have front claws, would put holes in it, plus hubby LOVES to put his dirty, smelly clothes and shoes from work on the bed even tho I yell at him all the time about it. It would devestate me if something were to happen to it. I paid WAAAY too much money for it to get ruined. Once I DO get my house (about 100 years from now) I'll have a guest room where it will go.

    Shari...what do YOU think?
Hand quilt it? I tried, didn't like it.
Then I tried Stitch In The Ditch.
    Didn't like it.
So....it's all squiggly, that's what Courtney calls it...all over it.
The white with the little bit of red is done in white and the
red heart is done in red, so when you turn it over to the back, you have
an outline (quilting) of the heart. It's kinda cool!

So, now YOU have to make one! :)
